My Story
PASSION
One of my flock’s favorite treats! I lightly sprinkle fresh organic oranges with Ceylon cinnamon before dehydrating them. The warm citrus and cinnamon fragrance that fills the house is simply amazing. These are also one of my favorite treats. I love eating them with the peel because it becomes wonderfully flavorful and aromatic after dehydrating. My birds absolutely love them too, but because citrus is naturally acidic, I offer them only occasionally as part of a balanced diet.
My Story
My creative journey began many years ago designing custom clothing for boutiques throughout Northern California. From there, I spent the next chapter of my career fabricating custom window treatments and bedding, working alongside talented interior designers and helping bring their visions to life. Creativity has always been at the heart of everything I do, and although the medium has changed over the years, that passion has remained the same.
As I continued learning, I discovered many remarkable teachers who generously shared their knowledge. I found Kristina of FullyRaw Kristina, Markus Rothkranz, Mimi Kirk, and many others whose passion inspired me to keep exploring and learning.
Eventually, my journey led me to Russell James and Amy Levin. I enrolled in their courses, where I learned the art of raw cuisine, food styling, and creating beautiful dishes that were as visually inspiring as they were nourishing.
From there, I immersed myself in books, online courses, workshops, and countless hours of practice. Before long, my kitchen had become something of a science laboratory. Five gallon jars of kombucha with enormous SCOBYs lined the counters. I was making fermented cheeses, kefir yogurt, cultured vegetables, and experimenting with every aspect of living foods. Every available inch of counter space seemed to be filled with sprouting jars overflowing with garbanzo beans, lentils, peas, broccoli sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, sunflower greens, and just about every seed and legume imaginable. My dehydrator was constantly running, fresh juices were always being made, and every day brought another opportunity to experiment, create, and learn. My kitchen became a place of endless discovery, and I loved every minute of it.
Around this same time, another wonderful part of my life was unfolding. My parrots came into my world just as I was discovering raw foods, and they naturally became part of this journey. Their diet centered around the same fresh, organic, non GMO fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts and seeds, herbs, and wholesome foods that were filling my own kitchen. Every day I prepared colorful bowls of fresh chop, sprouted seeds to top their meals, and dehydrated healthy treats made with the same love and care that I poured into my own recipes. My kitchen became a place where creativity, nature, and caring for every living being came together. Through every recipe, every photograph, every late night of studying, and every step of building this website, Kiero, Kylie, and Jewel have been faithfully by my side. They have filled my home with laughter, companionship, and endless inspiration, making this journey even more meaningful.
Over time, I built my dream kitchen one piece at a time. I collected the tools I needed, practiced recipe after recipe, learned food styling and photography, and eventually taught myself how to build this website so I could share everything I had learned with others.
What began as curiosity gradually became a passion, and that passion grew into Raw Gourmet La Vie.
Today, more than fifteen years later, Raw Gourmet La Vie is so much more than a recipe website. It is a reflection of my journey. A place where creativity, beautiful food, photography, nature, and lifelong learning come together. Every recipe, every photograph, and every page has been created with love and the hope of inspiring others to discover the beauty of healthy living.
My wish is that as you explore these pages, you’ll find inspiration, learn something new, and perhaps discover a passion of your own. After all, one unexpected moment of curiosity has the power to change an entire life.
Thank you for visiting and for allowing me to share a little piece of my world.
With love and gratitude,
Kelly
